The gala to celebrate the 8th edition of the Poland 100 Best Restaurants guide was attended by more than 200 restaurant owners and chefs from dining establishments included in the guidebook. Krakow restaurants were also represented.
According to the publisher, this year their anonymous highly qualified inspectors visited and assessed as many as 1141 restaurants. All of them were evaluated with a questionnaire consisting of 100 items. Points were granted for the quality and freshness of ingredients, the pairing of items on the menu, the taste of dishes, quality of service, comfort and atmosphere as well as the restaurants’ interior and surroundings. Establishments recognised in the guidebook are not only selected based on the inspectors' votes alone but also on customer reviews, ratings given on a dedicated website and votes sent via text messages and Facebook.
The awards were granted in two categories: "Best Restaurant in Poland" and "Best Inn in Poland". Within each category there were four levels of awards: Award of Excellence – one fork, Best of Award of Excellence – 2 forks, Grand Award – 3 forks and Grand Award – 3 forks plus. The rating of the restaurant within each group was determined according to the principle that 75% of the rating depended on customer votes and 25% on votes from inspectors.
The title of the Best Restaurant of the Year 2018 in Poland was awarded to Wodna Wieża restaurant in Pszczyna. First place in the Best Inn category was given to Cichy Kącik in Krynica-Zdrój. Krakow's Zalipianki restaurant, together with Majolika from Gdańsk, were both recognised with the Debut of the Year title.
The title of Grand Award was bestowed upon the following Krakow restaurants: Trzy Rybki, Copernicus, Moo Moo Steak&Burger Club, Oranżeria, Nota_Resto by Tomasz Leśniak, Magnifica, Enoteka Pergamin, Filipa 18. The title Best of Award of Excellence was granted to Zielonym do góry, and the Award of Excellence to 27 porcji restaurant.
